Been working on my first Ad Mech army. Here's my latest list design. Still trying to get to grips with the Ad Mech so any analysis at all would be really awesome! Omnissiah bless you.

TACTICA:
I'm pretty set on the choice of Forge World as it matches in nicely with the fluff i've come up with for the army and also it gives me access to one particularly important stratagem. I'd also like to have as many command points as possible as I plan on using loads of stratagems.
The army has three devisions.... The front group consisting of the 6 Sydonian Dragoons with Lances and the Skitarii Vanguard.
Using the Stygies Stratagem 'Clandestine Infiltration' the Dragoons can surge ahead from turn 1 and will protected by the -1 to hit from incense clouds and even -2 to hit if the enemy are still 12inches away.
*** Imagine your opponent has a Traitor Knight or something else monstrous at T8 and with loads of wounds..... a terrifying combo you can pull off is as follows....
- Set Canticles to Chant of the Remorseless Fist for reroll 1's in fight phase.
- 6 Dragoons currently with 3 attacks each, 6+ will cause 3 hits rather than 1. Hitting on 3+ and rerolling 1's. Strength 5+3, Ap -1, D2.
- Add Conqueror Doctrina Imperative Stratagem (1CP).
- Now we have 6 Dragoons with 3 attacks each, 4+ will cause 3 hits rather than 1. Hitting on 2+ and rerolling 1's. Strength 5+3, Ap -1, D2.
- Before we roll to wound, play Gloria Mechanicus Stratagem (2CP)
- Set Canticles to Invocation Of Machine Might for +1 Strength.
- Now we have 6 Dragoons with 3 attacks each, 4+ will cause 3 hits rather than 1. Hitting on 2+ and rerolling 1's. Strength 6+3, Ap -1, D2.
I've rolled this up a 10 times and here's the unsaved wound count on a Knight per 1 round of attacks.
/30/36/22/32/22/24/22/28/30/16/ ***
So... the Dragoons charge straight into the enemy lines causing as much destruction as possible.
The Vanguard advance swiftly behind with supporting fire, covering the ground and clearing away screens.
The next devision of the army is the middle ground force consisting of the Tech Priest Dominus #2, Tech Priest Enginseer, Kataphron Breachers and Servitors. The Priests and the Breachers will make there way to the middle ground of the field whilst still keeping over 12inches away from the enemy) laying down suppressive fire and holding objectives at the centre of the table.
This detachment will be a Servitor Maniple from the Vigilus supplement. Allowing the Tech Priest the regenerate Breachers from the Servitors. I'm tempted to boost the Breachers to a squad of 8 by dropping the Ruststalker squads down toi 5's, as i think that this combined with the servitor replacements and Tech Priest repairs would make the Breachers quite a difficult blob for the enemy to shift; also, taking into account that the Breachers are troops makes this that more valuable.
The final devision of the army is the backline. The head of the snake if you like.
Right on the very back edge of the table the three Onagar Dunecrawlers will lay down heavy support with those delicious Neutron laser shots and the three squads of Rangers with their total of 6 Transuranic Arquebus's will mercilessly harass the enemy warlord and characters. Warlord Tech Priest will be buried amongst the Dune Crawlers and Rangers, granting reroll 1's in shooting phase and making reliable repairs with his Autocaduceus of Arkhan Land relic and hopefully bringing back a few precious command points with his Monitor Malevolus Warlord trait.
So what of the Elites?
The Infiltrators are the unit i can call upon to arrive anywhere they are need as an harassing unit. I'm not expected much from them, but i like the tactical flexibility they offer.
The Ruststalkers are to offer a protective screen to the back line, ready to answer any deepstrikers that come with those lovely mortal wound attacks. But also they are there to jump out and grab back/mid field objectives too if need be, and also offer combat support for the mid ground force too. I'd probably keep them mostly out of trouble at first, holding them back until the later stages of the game where they can then jump out and mop up.
So thats the design... Hope you guys like it and I'm very keen to have your input as I'm still trying to get to grips with the Ad Mech.
Praise The Omnissiah!
