Hey there, Hey Luke!
Really excited for the new season of Battle Reports on the Channel and here on the Plus Channel. I've resubscribed to be sure not to miss anything!
I would like to know if the new season will bring new armies to the forefront. 2018 was a blast but I can't help but think that some armies deserved much more presence on the channel! I'm glad Craftworlds saw a lot of play and I heard that you have new plans for them, so that's great. Also the new Thousand Sons army is outstanding and this "Secret project" was a success. But I would love to see more Red Scorpions, Imperial Fists, Harlequins and even Dark Eldar. You collect all these armies and I hardly see them being played. Especially Dark Eldar: your army is amazing and I would love to see more of them against the armies of the channel (: I know you also have a new Secret Army project with a brand new force, can't wait to see them coming on the Channel, they will be worthy opponents!
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us!
Fear not iamthib, Luke addresses these very issues in his latest few CA Army Adjustment videos here on the PLUS channel.
Due to the point reductions in CA, I believe his plans are to paint the few new models required to get most of his "working as intended" armies back up to 2000 pts, and then throw all his attention into the armies that aren't finished and have been languishing in the background.
He also plans to have a more diverse spread of factions hitting the field with each of them seeing a more equal amount of play time this season in order to avoid the situation that happened last season, where factions that saw more play kind of skewed the Leaderboard.
I'm with you bud. Like Phoenix said Luke mentioned getting a bunch of those armies into more games. I'm particularly stoked on seeing the Drukhari and eventually the Harlequins. I've been doing so well with my Drukhari (Flayed Skull not Black Heart lol) and my Red Grief Wyches. Its been awesome!
My favorite new army on the channel is definitley the Thousand Sons and want to see them in a lot of games.
It'd be also like to see the factions sort of climb the ladder. Like seeing the factions with the fewest wins battle there way up to the top. It'd give Luke a chance to get his feet under him with various factions instead of duking it out with the big boys right off the bat. Like seeing the Dark Eldar battle with Imperial Fists, then if they win get a chance to battle say the Thousand Sons, and if they win again get a chance to battle Tau or Ultramarines. Maybe Phoenix Reborn can figure out a tier system.
Either way its shaping up to be a great season
Oh yeah I've been doing so well with Drukhari as well. I picked them as my first army when I returned to the hobby about two years ago because the models were my favourite. I listen to your Splintermind podcast and it carried me through 2018, thanks for that (: I followed Striking Scorpion's paint guide for my Kabalites, with a few tweaks to make it more personal, and I have watched pretty much all the Drukhari content on the channel. I have been playing Obsidian Rose and Poisoned Tongue (redeployment stratagem is crazy good since nobody expects it) with good success. I can't wait to see Luke bringing them back to the channel and see how enjoyable the codex is and how customizable it is.
Indeed, fleshing out the ladder a bit more would be a nice improvement for 2019 (maybe adding some kind of score board for the channel?).
The new season is definitely going to be massive with the new Secret Army, the Imperial Knights (new commissions from Legofingerz) etc.
There is a channel leaderboard that I maintain for Luke. You can find a link to it from the Title Banner on the regular channel, and there's also a thread somewhere on here that has it. It really should be stickied, but I don't know if this site supports that.
Thats awesome man, thanks for listening! Send us some pics of your army on FB, I'd love to see them. Glad you are rocking with your Drukhari. Good for you playing Obsidian Rose, I know they aren't the most popular but they've got some great tools. Especially playing keep away with extra range (could've used that last game).
I'm pumped for the new secret army too. Should be great!
