Right here we go ive been given the know no fear box set and the imperial fist battle box for christmas.
I want a full primaris force but dont know where to go from here.
Im thinking of possibly doing a custom blood angel chapter.
If there are any ideas for a special character also please let me know haha
Primaris army advise
Blood Angels will do you proud! You basically need to give each unit a fairly specific job and then stick to the plan - aggressors for clearing infantry screens, Hellblasters for armour and elites, inceptors for the ability to deep strike and mess up your opponent's plans! Even with the points drops, a full Primaris army is still going to be over-pointed, but that's okay, I would expect further drops in points in future editions of CA until pure Primaris become really competitive. Intercessor sergeants can take a power fist now though, so they can be a real threat in close combat, which is where you want to be to take advantage of the army wide special rules. Unfortunately Primaris don't really have a dedicated cc unit so if you do want to go for Blood Angels I would suggest picking up some Sanguinary Guard and a couple of our special characters. The models are bigger, so they won't look out of place. That'll also give your army the unique feeling of the sons of the 9th legion. If it's 100% Primaris, no deviation, then you could convert some models up and use them as "counts as" models in your casual games. So have a "counts as Sanguinor" converted from an inceptor, for example, (could carefully remove the guns at the hand and replace with a sword and chalice, then maybe add some wings!). Whatever chapter you choose, Primaris are cool to build and fun to paint. May the Emperor bless your bolters and guide your blades!
Thanks mate i was looking at getting some sanguinary guard.
Its a shame about primaris not having cc units.
I dont know what to do about armour ive not heard any good things about the repulser.
The repulsor is an absolute bullet hose. But with only a 3+ save it is very killable and will suffer from your opponent's focussed fire. The redemptors look better at their new points cost and most of the SM players I know are putting then back into their lists. Not me, but I pretty much run a 100% infantry army unless I'm playing over 2000 points. Contemptor dreads are very good. The forge world version is pricey to buy but is very effective with 2 twin lascannon and has dropped a bit in points. if you sit him next to a captain and lieutenant he can hit on 2s, rerolling 1s, and wound almost everything on 3s (or better) rerolling 1s.
Its a pain that the repulser is the only transport its so limiting!
Ive bought the other primaris battle box now so ive got a big force not sure how to get them bown the table if they all have to foot slog haha
Patience will see you through. There have been rumours and I'm convinced that we'll have a Primaris version of a rhino before long. We've only got the GSC and Sisters codices to come out then we may see GW start the wheel again. A new Space Marines codex would almost certainly include a Primaris rhino and possibly even a cheeky flyer... 😁 In the meantime, deep striking Inceptors and Reivers will give you time and space to footslog the rest of your army up the table, as long as they are well enough protected. Imo the best infantry weapons available are the rapid fire ones so you have a decent threat range with your Hellblasters and Intercessors :-)
