After completing my Armageddon Steel Legion army, I unintentionally caught the greenskin bug and have started collecting Orks. I wanted create the theme of a Warband roving the ash wastes, ambushing Imperial supply convoys and making raids in the shadow of Hive Hades (where my guardsmen are call home).

This is a list that I'd like to aim towards as it includes my favourite units from the fluff. However all feedback is greatly appreciated before I get too invested.

I think you need to wait for the orc codex until you design your list if your looking to make it functional/strong or competative. The current suggested list with the current rule-set would be run over by almost any other conceivable army out there.

It is currently impossible to create the sort of target saturation needed to sustain a mechanized list, the durability is not there. And once in combat the punch is sort of not there either. And while tankbustas are good against T7 and below they are expensive.

I suggest you start working on some of the models you enjoy a cauple of boxes at a time (which should always be the practice imo) and hopefully before long we'll get the codex and then we can hopefully see some non green tide lists that actually work decently.
