One thing I'd love to see on the channel is for you guys to take classic battles you fought in older editions, recreate those lists under 8th edition rules, and then replay the battle as close as possible to the original game as possible. Try to set up the terrain the same, play the same mission, etc. The one and only change you'd make is that, after recreating the old army lists exactly as they were, see if there's a difference in points between the two. If there is, then the player with the smaller force gets to add in additional forces to fill up the points until they match the points value of the larger force.

For example, here's a classic battle which I've watched a ton of times and really enjoyed, and which I'd love to see you guys redo again. It's a 6th edition battle between the Eldar and the Imperial Guard, which the Imperial Guard lost 10-9. 10-9! That's a game which DEMANDS a do over!

I took the liberty of figuring out the points value for each army. So if you guys were to do it, this would be the Eldar army, with no change whatsoever:

So you guys would take those armies exactly as listed above, recreate the battlefield as close as you can to what was in the original map, do a Vanguard Strike Deployment, and you do The Scouring Mission.

Now here’s the ONE difference: As you can see, under 8th edition rules, those armies which were once both 1,850 points are no longer 1,850 points. The Craftworld Eldar list has shot up to 2,221 points while the Astra Militarum list has dropped to 1,695 points. That’s a 526 points difference. That means that James then gets 526 points to play with. Once again, neither of you can change the force composition in any way, not unit choices, not unit sizes, not weapon options, etc., but James can go ahead and add 526 points or less to the army listed above. Then fight it out again and see if, under 8th edition rules, James could win a battle which he previously lost in 6th edition.

I think that’d be an incredibly exciting battle report, and I’d love to see you guys do it.

Here's another great battle which would be awesome to see redone under current rules.

It appears the same Eldar army list is used in this one, so the Eldar would be 2,221. Unlike the above battle, though, it appears that this time the other army is more points, as this Blood Angels army now comes out to 2,257, which means that the Eldar in this case would be given 36 points to play with. Not a whole lot, but hey. So the Blood Angels army list would look like this:

So again, try to recreate the battlefield as much as possible, play the Secure and Control Mission with Dawn of War Deployment, and keep the army lists exactly as above, except that Eldar get to add 36 points to their force.

But yeah, it'd be awesome to see redo's of these three battle reports. I don't know about anyone else, but I've watched all three a ton of times, and they were endlessly interesting. It'd be really great to see how these battles would shake up under 8th edition rules, and with the army with a smaller points total under current rules getting additional forces to make up the difference. CAN James pull out victories under current rules when he previously suffered defeats in these battles? I want to know.
