I've recently converted my old wraithguard into the new 40mm bases to allow them to be used in combat. They are quite obviously deadly against any large opponents (10x S10 AP-4 d6 damage shots) however they cost 400 points themselves. I planned to bring them on the battlefield with webway strike (400 points worth of stuff deepstriking for 1 CP) and to blow up any vehicle the enemy could master.
Then an idea struck me as I've been wondering how to deal with any hordes that would be the alternative to giant units. Hordes of course being a counter to the Wraithguard so i came up with this list:
Battalion of Biel-Tan
HQ:
Farseer - Guide and Doom, Warlord (Seer of the Shifting Vector), Phoenix Gem
Spiritseer - Protect and Jinx
TROOPS
5x Dire Avengers (reroll 1's cause of Biel Tan)
5x Dire Avengers (reroll 1's cause of Biel Tan)
20x Guardian 2x Shuriken Cannon (reroll 1's cause of Biel Tan)
ELITES
10x Wraithguard
TRANSPORT
Wave Serpent with 3 Shuriken Cannons and Vectored Engines (reroll 1's cause of Biel Tan)
Battleplan:
Wave Serpent contains both HQs and DA squads and delivers the psykers to combat and Dire Avengers onto objectives. The tank is the only thing i put on the board because both the giant Guardian blob and the Wraithguard are in Webway for 3 CPs. I identify the biggest threat in the enemy team and I either drop one of the blobs or both of them while casting Guide&Doom&Jinx combo to make it impossible to miss, fail to wound or to make it hard for invulnerable saves to proc.
I wonder what you'd think about these tactics and I apologise for any english mishaps as it is not my native language. :D
